MAKE A DIFFERENCE

A consultant who travelled to over 100 different countries in his regular work kept a private survey of questions he asked in his spare time. One of the questions was,
What is the most important thing in your life?”
The answer he received over and over was,
I want my life to count.”
Another question he asked was, “What is your greatest fear?”. Surprisingly, very few said things like death, cancer or public humiliation.
Instead, most confided a fear that their lives would be meaninglessthat they would die with their potential untapped.
When pressed, most of us feel there’s a reason we were put on Earth at this place and time.
We have a longing to fullil that destiny, even if we don’t know what it is.
Getting excited about our future means going beyond survival, going beyond success and looking for significance; looking for ways to fullil a purpose greater than ourselves.
People who have fallen in love with their future have usually discovered this approach. And they apply it to their career as well as their personal life. They try to look 5,10, 30 years into the future and ask themselves,
“Is what I’m doing benefiting mankind?”
“Will it continue to benefit others in the future?”
If not, they do not soul searching for a career of a personal change. If so, they throw themselves their work with a new vision for making a difference.
“We each have a song within us that only we can sing.” Michael Jones.

WHAT TO THINK OF

Exploring the path to a meaningful life.
We all make mistakes and experience disappoinment.
Sometimes our biggest regret is that we can’t undo the past.
It’s like concrete that has hardened and can’t be reshaped.
That’s why the future offers such hope. No matter how old we are, each new day streches before us like wet cement.. waiting for the imprint we give it.
Wise daily decision can help us build more of the things we truly desire: Nobility of character, revived relationship, even increased personal power.
This idea describes the kind of decisions and life-skills that lead to purpose and contentment. Practising these skills frees us to catch a glimpse of who we really are and the desitiny that is open to us.
Once we understand and fall in love with our future, it’s possible that the world around us will never be the same.

What is a short story?

A short story is a work of fiction that is usually written in prose, often in narrative format.
This format tends to be more pointed than longer works of fiction, such as novellas (in the 20th and 21st century sense) and novels or books.
Short story definitions based upon length differ somewhat even among professional writers, due somewhat in part to the fragmentation of the medium into genres.
Since the short story format includes a wide range of genres and styles, the actual length is mitigated somewhere between the individual author's preference (or the story's actual needs in terms of creative trajectory or story arc) and the submission guidelines relevant to the story's actual market.
Guidelines vary greatly among publishers.
Many short story writers define their work through a combination of creative, personal expression and artistic integrity.
As a result, many attempt to resist categorization by genre as well as definition by numbers, finding such approaches limiting and counter-intuitive to artistic form and reasoning.
As a result, definitions of the short story based upon length splinter even more when the writing process is taken into consideration.

EXCUSE ME

Excuse me.
You excuse me.
You do excuse me.
You do not excuse me.
You don't excuse me.
Don't you excuse me?
Why don't you excuse me?
If you excuse me, I won't do it again.
If you excuse me for my mother, I'll tell her to promote you.
That you excuse me for her means you will be promoted.

MY WAY OF PRACTICING VERB TENSES

I had been learning so hard that I became a teacher while I was working as a freelance photographer.
Since then, I have been studying harder.
As I have taught at home, my learners enjoy my way.
I am writing a lot of grammar points.
We all will be free.

A WAY TO APPLY 7 VERB TENSES EVERYDAY

A doctor may say everyday:

I had examined her.

I found something strange.

While I was studying it, she called me.

We have been dicussing about it.

She comes today.

We have been friendly.

I will find out a procedure.

A student can do the same:

I had studied it.

I remembered something.

While I was rewriting it down, she called me.

We have been discussing about it.

She comes today.

We have been closer.

I will find out a new way.

CHANGING THE WAY-2

Because he was sick, the boy didn't go to school.
The boy, who was sick, didn't go to school.
The school was told that he was sick.
Being sick, the boy didn't go to school.
His being sick stopped him from going to school.
For him to be sick was reasonable.
The boy being sick could not go to school.
The boy's sickness kept him home.
Very sick that day, he stayed home.
So sick that he did stay home that day.
All his classmates went to school but him.
His absence that day was due to his sickness.
If he had not been sick, he would have gone to school.
He would like to go to school that day but he could not.

CHANGING THE WAY

"Where is she now?" I asked.
I asked, "Where is she now?".
I asked where she was then.
I asked where to find her.
I asked where she would be found.
I asked where we would find her.
I asked," Where d'you think she is?".
I asked where you thought she would be.
What I asked was where she was then.
Her current location was what I asked.

LOST AND FOUND IN KIEN GIANG

Thirty years ago, I left HCMC for KG with almost nothing except my skill of playing football, a university diploma and a dream of making my Mom happy. What I had lost and found there was preferably not much and now here I was back. What I will lose and find here could not be much either but this time I have another dream.

Since I got there my life style changed to be suitable to the surrounding, I have lost a big thingbut that marked in one chapter of my life that: “Everything can be changed”.

I found myself adjustable so fast that I could win a lot of my co-workers’ hearts. I learned from them the reality that life was much different from what I thought it would be. As I performed rather well in some first games, I also made the football fans there pleased and I invented a way to train myself. I only went to work in the morning, the other half of the day was for practicing football. I was given a deserted unfurnished house not far from work to live and that was the first thing ever made my Mom proud and of course that warmed my heart. It seemed almost too obvious to say that my God mother’s advice was worthy.

There is no way of knowing who will pay.

Knowing who will pay is what I am concerned.

ONE OF MY LETTERS

Dear teacher!
If it were not for you, I would never have been able to use any English as I am doing, be any of what I am an appear as happy as I do now.
As a teacher, I have had such a great chance to use my English which I learned from you and as a learner of English, I have found such a great interest in learning.
Nothing in the world could stop me from learning more and no one in the world could prevent me from considering you and respecting you as my second-to-none teacher who gave me such a golden opportunity that few people had dared to hope for.
Dear teacher! What you did for me is a guidance of what I am doing for my learners. What you taught me is an experience of what my learners are taught.
I have made a great progress in writing as well as translating, speaking. Almost classes I am in charged of go well. Almost learners I am with treat me the way I do to you.
Dear teacher! As long as my Mom, my wife and my son are all well and get along with me great, I have nothing to worry about. I could say we are happier than we have ever been.

STEALING SWEET POTATOES(TRỘM KHOAI LANG)

While pupils often steal some simple things for fun, I did steal only sweet potatoes for 3 years at Bao Loc Agricultural High School majoring in Forestry.

From Can Tho I came there with a wish of becoming a forest ranger. Before leaving home, I had asked my old weak Mom to offer me what she could from selling sweet soup everyday. At the age of puberty, in a cold climate, I needed some certain things especially what to eat at night. After a month of suffering from cold and hunger, I was asked to by one of my classmates if I would like to see his uncle 's farm and to get what and how much I needed. That was one of a lot of farms planting bananas and sweet potatoes. Feeling like a mouse in a buckle of sticky rice, I was so glad that I could pull up the big roundest ones. I also carefully cut 2 pieces of banana punches. After putting everything in to 2 bags, tying carefully. Trọng and I carried them on our shoulders, steadily walking home as it was coming dark. Trọng broke into pleasant laughs whenever hearing me send my thanks to his kind uncle. Suddenly he shouted loud " stealing ". I ran off as if I had seen a ghost just for my first time wrong doing.

Sometimes, no need to prove... but my love would be true.
One ev'nin in town, strolling I thought of you.

Let's keep our wounds disappeared as we have feared.
