HOW TO GIVE A GOOD SPEECH

1. Practice your speech, your speech cards before the big day.
2. Do everything to make it easy for the listeners to follow your ideas.
3. At first, say how your speech will be divided up. Make it clear when a part is finished.
4. Be calm and confident. Just take it easy.
5. Think about a strong first sentence. End with a strong sentence.
6. Make them laugh and give them something provocative to think about.
7. Decide where and how to stand, where to put the materials.
8. Speak loudly and clearly. Never just read a full sentence notes
9. Remember that your voice- intonation- must do the job of punctuation.
10.Try not to speak too fast.
11. Make sure you can be heard and seen. Make them feel you are speaking personally.
12.Try to make eye contact with anyone in the audience at least once during your speech.
13. Be careful not do distract them by swinging on the chair, tapping your feet etc.
14. Include visual material with your speech. Write the numbers for them to see.
15. Be very exactly clear what you want for them.
16. If you ask a question, be ready for strange answers and expect to answer it yourself.
17. Give them the expression that you are well- prepared and have something good to say.
18. Have a lot of control over the content.
19. Do a lot to make sure your delivery is effective.
20. Keep in mind that the listeners usually have only one chance to understand your ideas.
